Jo (they/them) believes that healing and growth are nurtured through curiosity, creativity, compassion, and connection. As an associate counselor, Jo’s role is to create a warm, non-judgemental, affirming, and accessible environment where you can courageously explore your experiences, emotions, relationships, and aspirations.
Jo’s approach draws from several trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, strengths based approaches, honoring the many intersecting identities, experiences, and other factors that shape who you are. Their eclectic approach incorporates aspects of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Parts Work, Person-Centered Therapy, Somatic Approaches, Attachment Theory, Creativity-Based Interventions, and when working with children, Play Therapy. They recognize that healing looks different for everyone, and their goal is to support you in identifying your unique path, building a deeper relationship with yourself and, in turn, fostering more meaningful connections with others.
They support children, teens, families, couples, families, and adults across the lifespan, with particular interests in supporting queer and trans communities, disabled and neurodivergent individuals, navigating family transitions and grief, interpersonal relationships, and complex trauma.
Jo graduated from Portland State University with their Masters in Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling in June of 2026. Before becoming a counselor, Jo supported community members in navigating houselessness and food insecurity, accessing reproductive healthcare, increasing access to harm-reduction, and increasing advocacy and connection in Disabled, Queer, and Trans communities.
In their free time, Jo enjoys reading, singing, dancing, live music, a good thrift find, creating art from trash, taking long walks (especially by the Ocean), and spending time with their friends, family, and two cats.
