KC (they/them) is an associate therapist providing counseling for children, teens, couples, and adults across the lifespan. KC views therapy as a collaborative process where new ways of thinking and interacting can be practiced with safety and bravery. They are a strong proponent of the healing power of relationships and seek to create an environment that is warm, curious, nonjudgmental, and empathetic. With a background in environmental education and recreation, KC values play and exploration as a means for introspection, healing, connection, and joy. KC has a passion for working with gender-diverse and neurodiverse individuals as well as all kinds of family constellations and relationship styles.
KC understands that you are the expert of your own experience; their role is to bear witness to you and the fullness of your life with compassion and understanding. KC’s approach incorporates wisdom from attachment theory, Gestalt therapy, and somatic and mindfulness practices.
Functioning from a child-centered play therapy perspective, KC believes in children's innate tendency towards growth and self-actualization when provided with nourishing conditions. KC’s role as play therapist is to foster a space where children are met with curiosity, delight, understanding, and empowerment. Through collaboration with parents, KC’s hope is to increase the sense of connection and delight between parent and child.
KC holdsMaster’s in Marriage, Couples, and Family counseling from Portland State University and a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and French from the University of Oregon. In their free time, you can find KC crafting, mending, collecting rocks, and stopping to smell the roses.
