Sage believes that healing begins in relationship and strives to make this the center of her therapeutic approach. She hopes to provide a welcoming therapeutic space based on compassion, acceptance, and client autonomy. Sage trusts in the innate wisdom of each child, adult, and family, and seeks to collaborate with clients as they move through the ever-shifting circumstances of life. She recognizes that healing is different for each individual, and that the healing process is informed by the cultures, social systems, and environments we live within. Sage works to incorporate these perspectives into the therapeutic space, and honors the identities and experiences of the clients she collaborates with.
Striving to be client- and family-focused and strengths-based, Sage draws from a variety of theories to support the individual goals of each client, including Child Parent Psychotherapy, Child Centered Play Therapy, Relational Gestalt Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Interpersonal Neurobiology, Collaborative Problem Solving, and Attachment Theory. She specializes in perinatal mental health, early childhood, and working with families as they navigate the many transitions that arrive alongside early family life. Her experience working with children, adults, and families in a variety of settings has provided her with an in-depth understanding of the ways in which organizations such as schools, healthcare, and social services influence the lives of individuals and families.
Sage holds a Master of Social Work degree from Portland State University. Her coursework centered on child and family therapy, social justice, and public policy. Sage earned her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Reed College and Master of Arts in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
In addition to collaborating with individuals and families, Sage enjoys playing outside, practicing yoga, reading, cooking, and making art.
