Elise believes healing happens in connection, and that each of us holds an innate capacity for growth and change. She aims to build rapport and trust with her clients through warmth, compassion, humor, empathy and nonjudgment.

Her counseling style is person-centered and relational at its core, drawing on Attachment Theory, Narrative Therapy, Emotionally-Focused Therapy and strength-based interventions. Elise works with clients to reflect on patterns that no longer serve them, draw on existing resources, discover new ways to ease life’s challenges, find meaning, and reimagine opportunities for connection.

Before joining Family Roots, Elise worked as a school counselor, supporting students and families across populations, needs, and life circumstances. Her time in schools deepened her respect for the resilience people carry and expanded her understanding of the systemic factors that influence our well-being. She brings an anti-oppressive, LGBTQ+-affirming lens to this work, and strives to provide a collaborative, creative, and welcoming space where all parts of you are honored.

Her work with individuals focuses on a range of concerns, including challenges with relationships, self-compassion, sexual and gender identity, systemic burnout, depression, school performance, ADHD, and anxiety. She offers services to children (age 5+), teens, and adults.

When away from work, Elise is most likely adventuring outside, laughing with friends and family, going to a concert or comedy show, playing with her dog, exclaiming over a delicious meal, reading a good book or singing in her car.
