Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is a non-invasive brain training method that can improve focus, emotional regulation, and overall mental wellness.
Family Roots Therapy is proud to offer neurofeedback using a system called NeurOptimal. NeurOptimal gently alerts the brain to shifts in activity through small interruptions in the audio used during a session.
This allows the brain to self-correct without conscious effort.
What happens in a neurofeedback session?
A neurofeedback session is typically 33 minutes (though we have options for longer or shorter sessions of 45 or 15 minutes if needed). Small sensors are placed on the ears and scalp.
You relax, listen to music, and can watch visuals as the system monitors your brain activity. Children can choose to watch a movie during the session. Clients often describe feeling calmer, more focused, and better able to manage stress after a session.
Who benefits from neurofeedback?
Neurofeedback can support people of all ages, especially those dealing with ADHD, anxiety, trauma, mood swings, or sleep issues. We have a limited number of sessions available for free for adoptive families through our partnership with the Oregon Post Adoption Resource Center (ORPARC) - inquire today if your family qualifies for free sessions!
